Alexander Hay
Apr 15th, 2021
Alexander Malcolm (Mac) Hay of Dennis Port, MA passed away at the Windsor Nursing & Rehab Facility in Yarmouth MA on April 15, 2021. Mac was born in Needham, MA to Alexander F. Hay Jr. and Evelyn M. Hay.
Mac was survived by his three children Rhonda L. Castillo, Alexander M. Hay, Robert J. Hay, three grandchildren Joshua Castillo, Mary Ashley Malone, Asia Hay, and great granddaughter Lyla Thames. Mac survived his longtime partner of 40 years, Joan Mastricola, who recently passed away in March of 2021.
Mac, who served in the U.S. Navy on two destroyers during the Korean War, was extremely proud of his service to his country, like his brothers in WWII and his father in WWI (Four Stack “Flush Decks” Destroyer Sailor).
He loved his life on the Cape with Joan, their dogs and circle of life-long friends. He especially enjoyed spending time at the beach relaxing and fishing, being an avid fisherman. Mac was the Executive Chef at the Bluewater and Red Jacket Inn on the Cape during the 1970’s. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A committal service will be held on June 1, 2021 at 1:30PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne. As his eldest son and retired U.S. Naval Nuclear Submarine Sailor, I say with great love and respect - “Sailor, Rest Your Oar.”
