John C. Donahue 94 of Brewster died peacefully Thursday April 22, 2021 at the Royal of Cotuit Nursing Home in Mashpee.
His wife of 63 years, Eleanor M. (McNulty) Donahue predeceased him on May 15, 2020.
John was born in Worcester, the son of the late John and Julia (Murphy) Donahue. He graduated from Classical High School, and at the age of 17 enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Aviation Technician’s Mate 2nd Class in 1952.
He attended Franklin School of Technology and worked for the FAA as a landing systems specialist at Logan International Airport for over 30 years.
After his retirement, John and Eleanor spent their time between Englewood, FL and Brewster. He was an avid golfer, loved to repair cars and could fix just about anything. He loved animals, especially his “granddogs”, Maya, Bode and Rosie. He was a member of the VFW and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
He leaves his children, John Patrick Donahue and his wife, Christine Ciancetta of Olympia, WA, Catherine Staub and her husband, Theodore of Flagler Beach, FL, and Margaret Donahue of Worcester; his grandchildren, Meredith (Staub) Fore and her husband, Byce of Seattle, WA, Benjamin Staub of Washington, D.C., Harrison Staub of Los Angeles, CA, and Rhiannon and Nathanial Donahue of Olympia, WA.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
