Kenneth T. Jenks, 62, of South Dennis, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Brenda L. (Donovan) Jenks for 40 years after marrying in 1980.

Born in Attleboro, Kenneth was the son of the late William and Constance (Harrop) Jenks. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Brenda, and; their three children, Elizabeth, Victoria and Alexander, and their granddaughter, Sophia. He is also survived by his brothers, Alan and William Jenks, and his sister, Tina and her husband, Mike Ricks. He leaves behind his cherished family including his mother and father-in law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, colleagues, and community.

Kenneth grew up in North Attleboro and graduated from North Attleboro High School in 1976. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Massachusetts, in Amherst and his Master’s Degree from Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater.

Kenneth joined the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District in 1984 as a history teacher. He had many achievements in his rewarding career including serving as President of the Teacher’s Union, Summer School Principal, Key Club Advisor, Assistant Principal, Principal and Assistant Superintendent. His dedication, enthusiasm and compassion formed the foundation of the legacy he leaves behind.

Among his many hobbies, he was an avid photographer. He also enjoyed reading, especially about history, train watching, bird watching, chess, hiking in the woods and walking on the beach. He could always be found cheering on his granddaughter while she played field hockey. Most of all, he was so proud of his family and enjoyed their many memorable moments.

Funeral services will be private, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date, yet to be determined.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the DY Dolphin Fund, in care of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, 210 Station Ave South Yarmouth, MA 02664.

I was so sorry to learn of the death of Ken Jenks. My sons attended D-Y High School and Mr. Jenks was always so kind and welcoming to all students. He was so enthusiastic about the school. He was ALWAYS at school events. This is a huge loss for our community. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the D-Y Community. Anastasia Welsh Perrino

Amidst the rolling moods and ruffles of our time, Ken Jenks consistently offered a gracious smile and a kindly personality. Whatever one's mood, it was invariably lifted in his presence. Almost as if Buddha himself came back as an educator! All condolences to his family and the D-Y community.

Ken was a caring and kind gentleman. He was an anchor who kept our Dennis Yarmouth School District on a steady course. He will be greatly missed at all the school functions he attended, most especially to me at Station Avenue Elementary. My gratitude to his family who shared him with our district. Ken’s life was short, however, he will always be remembered in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.

Ken was just the best! He was a champion of education, of kindness. His infectious smile, his laugh and bubbly personality made you feel wonderful just being in his presence. We have lost more than just a man. We have lost one of the most caring and genuine individuals on the planet! He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. I have no idea how many lives he touched; but, each one was better for it. Fly high, Ken, and watch over us as we try to live by your amazing example.

Kenny was one of the shining stars of our family. I have never known anybody who was so well liked and admired by everyone he came in contact with. Say hi to Geno when you reach the other side.
