Cynthia (Drake) Hugli, 101 of Orleans died peacefully on Wednesday March 10, 2021.
Cynthia was born in Newark, New Jersey and was the daughter of the late Jean and E. Arthur Drake, and the wife of the late Wilfred C. Hugli, Jr. She grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey and graduated from Kent Place School, in Summit, New Jersey and from Wellesley College, where she received her BA in political science.
During World War II, Cynthia worked at the Towing Tank of Stevens Institute of Technology.
Cynthia started summering in Brewster in the 1920’s and continued to return each summer until 1980 when she and her husband, Bill, retired to Brewster full time. Cynthia was an active member of Christ Church in Harwich Port and spent many hours volunteering at the Noah’s Ark Thrift Shop. Cynthia enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader, belonging to several book clubs. She also enjoyed traveling.
Cynthia, or Mams as she was affectionately called by her family, is survived by her three daughters, Adele Sparks of Ramah, New Mexico, Suzanne Paulson of Madison, CT., and Jean Harwood of Harwich, MA.; eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
