Elias Kaldis
Oct 15th, 2015
Kaldis, Elias, 77, of Dennis, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on Thursday, October 15th, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Mr. Kaldis was the beloved husband of the late Rita Kaldis, the father of Maria Kaldis of Yarmouth Port, and George Kaldis of Leominster, and the grandfather of Megan Kaldis, Miranda Kaldis, and Brittany Kaldis. He is survived by his sister, Helen, of Montreal, Canada and brother, Argirios, of Pylos, Greece; his other siblings, Anna, Angelo, and Nicholas having pre-deceased him. He was fortunate to have many dear nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends.
Mr. Kaldis was born in Pylos, Greece in 1938, the son of George and Marigo Kaldis. In 1957, he moved to Montreal to join his sister, Helen, and there he met Rita, the love of his life. They married in 1962 and moved to Cape Cod in 1970. Elias was a congregant of St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Centerville where, for decades, he freely gave his time and effort in support of the Annual Greek Festival, grilling endless amounts of souvlaki for all to enjoy. An accomplished carpenter, Elias built many beautiful houses throughout Cape Cod. Tending his garden also brought joy to Elias who happily shared his tasty vegetables and fruits with friends and family.
Upon retirement Elias and his loving wife of 55 years, Rita, spent most winters in Greece. They loved living in Rita's childhood home in Xirokambi where they cultivated olive trees and then shipped their extra virgin olive oil back to the States for friends and family. They frequently traveled around the Peloponnese always visiting Pylos to spend time with Elias' family.
The family would like to express gratitude to the entire staff of HopeHealth Hospice for their compassion and dedication.
Friends and relatives are invited to call at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Saturday, October 24 from 1-3 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in Greece.

My sincerest condolences to the Kaldis Family for the loss of this wonderful man who they were lucky enough to call "Father". Mr Kaldis was everything you could ever want for a Dad: dedicated, loyal, hard working, loving. In addition, he was also smart and had a sharp sense of humor. Everyone enjoyed his company , and he and Rita always went above and beyond to accommodate their family and friends. I will never forget how warm and welcome I have always felt in their home. May his memory be eternal and cherished. My heart is with Maria, and all the Kaldis Family. Sincerely, Eleni Drakos
Maria, My deepest condolences to you, your brother and extended family.
