Yarmouth Port- Elizabeth “Betty” Space, 89, passed away peacefully at home with family on Saturday November 28, 2020. Born and raised on Cape Cod to Marguerite and Edmund Fruean Jr., Betty grew up in Yarmouth and attended John Simpkins School.

She married Douglas R. Space on March 25, 1951. Together they raised four children, Melody, Pamela, Gary and Bryan in their Yarmouth Port home.

Betty was actively involved in the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Meeteneets and loved to contribute to bake sales.

She enjoyed tending to her vegetable gardens, making braided rugs and was always walking miles around Yarmouth Port. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her three grandchildren and five great grandchildren who adored their “Gigi”. She touched the lives of everyone around her. Her big smile, warm hugs and generosity will be missed.

Betty is survived by her daughter Pamela Coggeshall, son Gary Space, grandson Chet Coggeshall (Alexa), granddaughter Annie Coggeshall (Marc), granddaughter Faythe Coggeshall (Lee) and her great-grandchildren Brianna, Landon, Conor, Mia and Rhea.

Betty is predeceased by her husband (Doug) of 62 years, her brother Ed Fruean III, her son Bryan and daughter Melody.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed and very dear.”

Services are to be determined and will be at a later date due to COVID restrictions.
