R. John Prince

Aug 13th, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of R. John Prince, 71 of Henderson, NV announces his passing on Thursday August 13, 2020 at St. Rose Hospital in Henderson from Covid-19 complications.

John was born in Bismarck, ND, son of Calvin Prince and Madeline Kuntz.  He spent his youth years in Southern California, and resided in Las Vegas for the last twenty-four years.  John lived a wonderful life as an Iron Worker for eighteen years in North Dakota and Southern California.  He retired as a Construction Superintendent after twenty-one years in Las Vegas.

John was known for his wonderful wood creations.  His passion of woodworking led him to having his own company in the 1990's called Wood n' Things.  He built amazing buildings, furniture, and decorations that his family will treasure for ever.

John was the husband of Laurie Ryder Prince for thirty years.  Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Heather and Brooke; and two grandchildren, Hunter and Teagan.  John was the best dad the girls could ask for.  Always teaching them valuable life lessons and protecting them.  Over the past five years, John became best friends with his grandchildren.  They know John as Pa and he loved teaching them how to swim and play games.

If John wasn't building, you could find him on a boat at the lake.  His boat was his first love.  John grew up racing boats at several lakes across the country.  He was always the happiest being on a boat,  and drinking a beer with the wind in his hair.

Sundays, you could find him wearing his New England Patriots jersey yelling at the flat screen with his family.  He never missed a Patriots game.  John was a #1 New England Patriots armchair quarterback.

In honor of his love of Cape Cod and New England Patriots, John will be laid to rest at Woodside Cemetery in Yarmouth Port, MA.

A celebration of life will be in the future.  Until then, please have a toast in his honor (he loved wiskey).
