Carol Ann (D’Entremont) Fichter
Sep 21st, 2015
Carol Ann (D’Entremont) Fichter, 73, of South Dennis, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on September 21, 2015 from complications of a stroke she suffered in 2013. Carol was born in Boston, MA to her parents, Bernard and Agnes D’Entremont. She graduated from Norwood High School in 1960. Carol worked for the DY Regional School District for 25 years, retiring in 2004. She was the “cool” lunch lady and was the Manager at Wixon Middle School. Carol’s pride and joy was her family. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard; her sister, Joan Bird; her 4 children, Donna Zayatz, Betsy Rainville and her husband Rick, John Fichter and his wife Gloria, and Rick Fichter and his wife Andrea; a niece and nephews and their families, and her cousin Jim Fitzgerald and his wife Sue and their family. She leaves her grandchildren, John Fichter, Jr. and Joe Haley; Hana and Ethan Zayatz; Connor and Morgan Rainville; and Camden and Darby Fichter. She is remembered by her lifelong friends, Margie Curran, Maryellen Mulligan and has joined Alice Clark in their next adventure. Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, photography and figuring out mystery movies in the first 5 minutes! Carol’s kindness, love of life and sense of humor were infectious. Those who knew her had a more enriched life, laughed more and had a lot more fun. She will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Eagle Pond Nursing Home and Cape Cod Hospital for their kindness and compassion. Her visiting hours will be held Friday, September 25, from 4pm to 7pm in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth. Her funeral mass will be held Saturday, September 26, at 10am in St Pius X Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth, with burial to follow at St Francis Xavier Cemetery, Pine St., Centerville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stroke Support Group and the Peer Visitation Program, both at Spaulding Rehab Hospital of Cape & Islands, 311 Service Rd, East Sandwich, MA 02537 or the Stroke Support Group at the Dennis Council on Aging, 1045 Rte 134, South Dennis, MA 02660.

We love and miss you terribly.... You left our family with a hole in our souls that will never be filled. Rest in Peace Mum.
I was saddened to learn of Carol's passing. I had the pleasure of working with her for many years at Wixon. Any time I went to the cafeteria as a teacher, assistant principal or principal, I knew I would be met with a welcoming smile. Our cafeteria was the best in the D-Y district thanks to Carol's management.
I'd like to extend Gloria and family strength and support in the days ahead. My deepest condolences. Brenda Oldak
My mother taught me everything except how to live without her.
Mrs. Fichter, You will be missed. You were my Webelos Den Mother when I young. I continued in my Boy Scout career all the way to Eagle Scout. Your son John was one of my best friends and my Best Man at my wedding. Your family has a special place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. God bless you Carol Ann Fichter.
