Elizabeth "Betty" Tevenan
Apr 24th, 2020
Elizabeth “Betty” Tevenan 82 of Dennis passed away Friday April 24, 2020, at Pleasant Bay Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brewster, of complications from Covid-19.
Born in White Plains, NY, Betty was the daughter of the late Edward and Ethel (Livesley) Griswold. She grew up in Sandwich and graduated from the H.T. Wing School in 1955.
In 1975, she met the love of her life John “Jack” Tevenan and they were married for more than 25 years, until he passed away in 2008. She and Jack loved to travel and spent many weekends doing “a tank-away” trips around New England. They especially loved to stay in Boston taking in the history and culture as Jack had grown up in “Southie”. One of her most memorable and exciting trips was spending several weeks in Ireland visiting Jack’s relatives and attending a family wedding.
Betty worked as a unit clerk on the orthopedic wing of Cape Cod Hospital for twenty-five years, before she retired in 2004. She and Jack then moved to Leesburg, FL. They relished their time in their retirement home, until Jack passed away. To be close to family, Betty moved back to the Cape in 2011.
Betty was a social butterfly at Pleasant Bay, always wanting to help out with arts and crafts activities, doing jig-saw puzzles and getting the friends in her wing to play Rummy. She was a sweetheart and will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Sheryl A. McMahon of Dennis and Kathleen Driscoll of Centerville; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Griswold and her daughter, Pamela Rodriquez.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date and internment will take place privately in Florida, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved Jack.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Supporters of the Dennis Council on Aging, P.O. Box 606, South Dennis, MA 02660.

Betty was a dear, sweet lady. She always wore a smile and we loved her company, whether driving to and from church or during the fellowship hour following worship. We will miss her company very much, but look forward to seeing her again on "the other side of the Jordan". Peace to her memory. George & Evelyn Elia
Condolences from those of us at Cape Cod Covenant Church. Betty will be missed.
I am so sad to hear about the passing of the beautiful soul named Betty. Her smile lit up the room when she walked into church. She always seemed so happy to see everyone so I can understand why she was so popular at Pleasant Bay. Thank you so much for sharing your mother with us and she will definitely be remembered with a lot of smiles. I will really miss her.
