Kurt Franzon
Jan 7th, 2020
Kurt Franzon of North Eastham, MA, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2020. He was born August 4, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York to Myrtle and Carl Franzon.
Kurt lived a life of true gumption. He was the first to tell you about his days running bets for bookies, and digging for clams and quahogs at Billingsgate. He always believed that life was better with a Budweiser in hand.
He met his wife, Margaret, in a soda parlor in Brooklyn and the two were married for 67 years. Together they had two children, Lila Rasowsky-Watson(Robert) and William Franzon(Jill) and two granddaughters, Melissa Rasowsky(Thomas Woodburn) and Emily Rasowsky. His great granddaughter is Olivia Woodburn. He was preceded in his passing by his son William.
He worked as an accountant and lived in Bedford, New York for 30 years in a house he and his father built by hand. He served in the Army during WWII and was stationed in Japan. He loved to speak about the lovely bridges of Tokyo and the kind Japanese locals who worked at the corner store who he befriended. He will be remembered just as much for his warmth and kindness as his grit and determination. Here’s to Johnny Cash, bolo ties, and a cold glass of Bud because “It’s 5’clock somewhere.”
