James S. Collins, Jr. “Jim” 76 of Yarmouth Port died at his home Saturday January 11, 2020.

He was the loving husband of Carol B. (Feltch) Collins. They had been happily married for 57 years.

Born in Quincy, Mr. Collins was the son of James S. and Lucia (Milliken) Collins and moved to Yarmouth as a young boy. He graduated from Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School and earned his Master’s Degree in Accounting from UMass Dartmouth, formerly SMU.

Jim met the love of his life, Carol, while in high school and they were blessed with three daughters and a granddaughter.

Jim's working career began as an Assistant Administrator for a local New England Hospital. Shortly after, he pursued his dreams of owning his own business and did so for the rest of his career. Jim was well known in the business community for owning Bass River Marina in West Dennis and Route 134 Shell Service Station in South Dennis.

His outside interests included: boating, trips to Martha's Vineyard, and spending time with family and friends. Jim will always be remembered by his family and friends as being beyond supportive and always willing to help someone in need.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by a daughter, Cheryl James and her husband, Christopher of Yarmouth Port; a granddaughter, Betina Michalowski (Fahle) and her husband, David of Yarmouth Port; three great grandsons, David, Aaron and Joshua Michalowski; a sister, Nancy Dupont and her husband, Ronald of CT; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was predeceased by two daughters, Doreen Fahle and Catherine Collins; and two sisters, Barbara Chase and Virginia Collins.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday January 17 in Woodside Cemetery, Summer St., Yarmouth Port.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday January 16 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod – Hospice, 434 Route 134, Suite D3, South Dennis, MA 02660.

Cheryl and Mrs. Collins ( Carol) I am so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful man. I’m hoping this message gets to you as I have been out of the area for 20+ years. My mom told me. Cheryl I would love to hear from you. It’s a hard thing to deal with as I lost my brother and father as well. Know that I’m here for you.
