Jewell Ruth (Gaspar) Holden, 78, of South Yarmouth died on November 27, 2019 at Boston Medical Center. Born in Milford, MA she was the loving daughter of the late Everett and Josephine Gaspar, and Grayce Gaspar. Raised in Whitinsville and educated in Northbridge public schools, Jewell was a 1958 graduate of North High School. She went on to graduate from Elmira College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, and then Worcester State University with a Master’s in Elementary Education.

Jewell taught for 36 years at the Bancroft School where she was elected to the Cum Laude Society for excellence in teaching. Upon her retirement in 2003 she moved to Cape Cod, her greatest joy and most special place. Whether taking long walks along the shore or visiting a lighthouse, every aspect of this beautiful place brought her so much happiness.

She was an avid reader, and was a Red Sox fan. She loved the beach and travelling, spending winters in St. Petersburg. She had great love for her family and many friends. Jewell was a deeply devoted daughter and adoring caregiver for her father in the last 8 years of his life. She was very active in her community, attending South Yarmouth Congregational church. Jewell was a member of the Red Hat Society, General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the Dennis-Yarmouth Women’s Club, and the Bayberry Antiques Group.

Jewell is survived by her special cousin Cheryl Abbascia and husband Carl Abbascia, of Shrewsbury. She is also survived by her aunt Sally Allen, and cousins Jack and Betsy Sinnigen, Judith Allen, and Janet and Peter Voute. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, December 5, 2019 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth, 329 Route 6A, Yarmouth Port. The burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in Whitinsville.
