David H. Brewster
Oct 31st, 2019
David H. Brewster 80, of East Dennis and formerly of Stoughton and Boston died peacefully Thursday October 31, 2019 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
Born, raised and educated in Stoughton, David was the son of the late E. Curtis and Helen (Stoddard) Brewster. He attended Stoughton schools and then graduated from Boston University (CBA, 61).
It was at BU that David was introduced to the emerging technology of computers and that dictated where his career path would follow. Upon graduation, BU hired him as a programmer and part-time lecturer. He stayed on at BU’s evening division for the next 20 years teaching computer science. Early in his career he worked on complex database and data communication systems. This experience led to a long career in on-line banking. He ended this career as President of Data Management Systems Inc. of Hyannis.
In his years of retirement, David was an active antiques dealer, a mediocre golfer, a fan of dining out and cooking, a connoisseur of funny stories, and most challenging of all, he was his soulmate’s Scrabble competitor. Not a bad way to end an adventurous life.
David is survived by his children, David and his wife, Jocelyn of Northampton, John and his wife, Cindy of Gilsum, NH, and Donna Rex and her husband, William of Centerville; and his grandchildren, Shannon and Henry. David is also survived by his soulmate Judy Dadanna, whom he met on a cold, bleak winter’s evening that mirrored their lives at the time. On their first date, they agreed to never discuss marriage and 25 years later, they reaffirmed that vow.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday November 7 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth.
Visitation will precede the service beginning at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth.
As an expression of sympathy, please consider a contribution, in David’s memory, to his long-standing favorite charity, the Globe Santa, www.globesanta.org.

To David's family, I have the fondest memories of Cousin David. David's mother, my great-aunt Helen was my grandmothers sister. I loved them both very very much and still hold them in my heart deeply. My Dad, "Boofy", Paul Bishop, was his cousin. The last time that I saw David was at my Dad's funeral in 2011. He came from the Cape to Farley's with a bruised face after having taken a fall. His attendance was so very much appreciated and I enjoyed the opportunity to have a conversation with him. He communicated with my Dad frequently by email and they had a lot of ole reminiscences and laughs. He also emailed. I remember him telling me that he liked the music of Florence and the Machine. I was so surprised. :) The most fondly held memory that I have is that Cuz David each time that I saw him told me that I was surely a "Stoddard girl". Nothing could make me prouder as I always felt a connection to them, his mother and my grandmother. God Speed David. May God bless you with his grace and with the company of all who have gone before you and loved you. With Love, your cuz, Wendy (Bishop) Hines
