Carolina Bassett (Rose) 93 of Barnstable died at her home Thursday May 23, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the wife of the late Winthrop “Bo” N. Bassett Jr. who died in 2002. They had been married for 58 years.

Born in Boston, Mrs. Bassett was the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Yanello) Rose.

She enjoyed butterflies, coloring, writing poems, root beer floats, crosswords, bingo, Wii bowling, and watching Wheel of Fortune. Mrs. Bassett loved to sing to all, her favorite was Olde Cape Cod. Being surrounded by those she loved was what she enjoyed the most. She was a person, who no matter what, always found the good in everyone. She taught her family to love unconditionally, to trust even when it hurts and when that trust has been broken, sing for all to hear and to forgive always.

If you knew Mrs. Bassett you were considered family. She touched the hearts of so many and will be missed immensely.

Mrs. Bassett is survived by two sons, Kim and his wife, Catherine of Barnstable, and Clifford and his wife, Gloria of South Yarmouth; a daughter, Linda Harrington and her fiance, Paul Matton of Barnstable; a son-in-law, Ron Sprague; sixteen grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Sprague.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday May 29 at Evergreen Cemetery, Route 137, East Harwich.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday May 28 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to VNA of Cape Cod – Hospice, 434 Route 134, Suite D3, South Dennis, MA 02664 and her flowers will be donated to Flower Angels.

My heart goes out to all of you. It was plain to see what an anchor she was to your family and how much love she generated. I think that's why she was among you for so long.
