Sarah Ann (Barker) Harris "Sally"
May 22nd, 2019
Sarah Ann (Barker) Harris “Sally” 104 of Orleans.
It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Sally B. Harris, five weeks before her 105th birthday, on Wednesday May 22, 2019 at her home in Orleans.
She was the wife of the late Howard “Al” Harris who died in 1990. They had been married for 54 years.
Born in Hartford, CT, Sally was the loving daughter of the late Russell and Marguerite Barker. She was raised and educated in West Hartford, CT. She moved to Eastham in 1975 after her late husband’s retirement and then moved to Orleans following his death.
An avid whale watcher with the Dolphin fleet in Provincetown, Sally was also a regular patron of the Yardarm Restaurant in Orleans, with a special reserved corner table three times a week. She was well known for her hair piled high with a matching colored bow to coordinate each outfit.
Sally loved spending time with her family, music and relaxing in her home. She has left a lasting legacy of truth, dignity and honor. Her loving, positive ways towards all was one of her strengths and examples that will remain instilled in her family, and all who were fortunate to have crossed her path. The family will cherish the special place in their hearts that will always be reserved for her and the special memories, including what her gift of living brought to each of them.
A recipient of the Boston Cane at the age of 103, Sally was also delighted to receive a proclamation from the Orleans Selectman recognizing her as the oldest living citizen.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Kim Mead-Walters, Dr. John Kalin, Dr. Jonathan Miller and Dr. Benjamin Chung for always being there when needed.
Sally is survived by a son, Howard A. Harris III, and a daughter, Judith H. Jalbert and her husband, Arthur of Orleans; a brother, Peter Grahame and his wife, Kamini of Harwich and PA; six grandsons, Steven, David, Christian, Kenneth, Keith, and Austin Jalbert; twelve great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, Sally was predeceased by her brothers, David and Richard Barker; and her sisters, Frances Barker and Elizabeth Abondolo.
Funeral services will be private.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Jeremy Walter's Scholarship Fund, c/o Cape Cod Five Savings Bank, P.O. Box 10, Orleans, MA 02653.

This is sent to Judy, Fred, Arthur and all her family who adored Sally . We will always remember her as the exceedingly attractive lady, especially in her senior years when we had the pleasure of meeting her at family gatherings especially her " milestone " birthdays! If I were to choose one word to describe her it would be " Lady." Please accept Vin's and my sincere condolences on her passing. However, we will always remember her with her beautiful smile and love of family. RIP Sally Harris.
