Muriel was raised in Fall River, MA, graduated from Bayshore High School on Long Island, NY, and graduated with an Associate Degree from Lasell College in Newton, MA.
Muriel is survived by Robert B. Shaw, her husband of 53 years; her daughter Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Machiele of Honeyoe Falls, NY; her daughter Meg (John) Bowman of Bedford, MA; her son Charles (Susan) Shaw of Cranford, NJ; her grandchildren Emily, Morgan, Jake, Ryan, Katelyn, Connor, and Matthew; her brother L. Since her marriage in 1965, Muriel has dedicated her life to helping and caring for others – first as a homemaker to her immediate family, then as a volunteer for numerous church and civic organizations, and lastly as a devoted caregiver to her mother following her father's passing. She was always gracious, always saw the good in others, and always expressed an interest in the concerns and doings of her many friends.
Muriel thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors whether gardening at home, kayaking on Kelleys Pond behind her home, walking in the woods, or playing games with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed cooking for family meals and playing card games with her grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on May 18, 2019 at 11 AM at the Northside United Methodist Church, 701 Airline Road, Brewster, MA 02631 (northside-umc.org). I’m so sorry to hear of your dear Muriel’s passing. She was a lovely lady, who bore her illness with grace and dignity. The past months were particularly difficult, and I hope her passing was gentle. Your steadfast love and care surely comforted her and filled her heart with courage and faith. My prayers are with you and your family at this sad time.

Muriel was a wonderful person! She was great about dropping meals to my family and was such a blessing helping with the Evangelism committee. She had a great laugh and smile. I'm thinking of you Bob and family.
What a sweet lady you were, Muriel. Always kind and thoughtful. We considered you and Bob friends. You will be missed. With love, Carol and Fred
