Justin C. Bolger of Yarmouth Port, MA, died on March 27th, 2019.
He is survived by his beloved wife Margaret, by their three daughters (Elizabeth Payne of Marietta Ga., Janet Smith of Sterling Ma. and Gail Castillo of Toronto, Ontario) and seven grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his brother, Edward, of Yonkers, N.Y. He is survived by his sister, Mary Anne Connelly of Williamsburg, Va., and by many nieces and nephews.
Before retiring to Cape Cod, Justin and Margaret were long time residents of Dover, Ma., were members of the Wellesley Country Club for over 30 years, and spent their winters on Sanibel Island, Florida.
Justin was born in Brooklyn, NY, attended Bishop Loughlin High School, and then the University of Notre Dame as an NROTC midshipman. He graduated in 1952, Magna Cum Laude in Chemical Engineering, and then served aboard destroyers as Engineer Officer, first on the USS Putnam and later the USS Buckley. He received the Korean and U.N. ribbons for Putnam’s service in the Pacific during the Korean War.
After release from active duty, he attended M.I.T., receiving his master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering and his doctorate in Chemical Engineering. He co-founded the Amicon Corp in 1962, where he built the Amicon Polymer Products Division into a world-wide supplier of structural adhesives, insulation of materials and other electronic assembly products. After Amicon was acquired by W.R. Grace, he became a consultant and lecturer on electronic packaging, and directed several ARPA contracts on attaching flipped chips. He authored over 60 technical papers and 8 text book chapters, and held 10 U.S. patents.
He and Margaret retired to Kings Way in Yarmouth Port in 2003, where they enjoyed playing golf and bridge as well as the many other Kings Way social activities. In particular, they enjoyed having their grandchildren, children, friends and their other family members visit to share with them the joy of living on Cape Cod.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 1st at 11am at St. Pius X Church, South Yarmouth MA. The burial will be private.
