Kathleen Mary Serpone
Jan 21st, 2019
Kathleen Mary Serpone, 71 of Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston due to complications after being diagnosed with cancer this past December.
Born in Weymouth, Massachusetts in 1947, and the eldest of eight siblings of John and Patricia Byrne, including sisters Sheila, Marcia, Patricia, Maureen, Nanci, and brothers Jack and James, she spent her early years growing up in Arlington, Massachusetts.
She married Richard Serpone in 1970 and moved to Cape Cod in 1972 where she raised three children, Brian, Kristin and Matthew.
She relished a lifetime of happy years raising her kids on beautiful Cape Cod and where she also enjoyed a career in Real Estate.
She was truly loved by everyone she encountered throughout her life and genuinely and passionately cared about the people she allowed into her life. If you were part of her life, she would know more about you than you knew about yourself as she always put her family and friends before herself.
Most people never have the opportunity to see an angel, or simply do not look well enough to see them walking among us. We’ve been blessed to have not only seen an angel, but to have had one as a mother, a wife, a daughter, an aunt, a niece and a grandmother. She was truly special.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard “Zippy” Serpone, her three children; Brian Serpone and his wife Katherine, Kristin Sousa and her husband Brett, Matthew Serpone and his wife Patricia, six grand-children; Abigail, Andrew, Brandon, Caden, Sienna and Amelya. She also leaves behind seven siblings; Sheila Pandolfo and her husband Joe, Marcia Stanton, Patricia Larsen and her husband Cam, Maureen Bergstrom and her husband Fred, Nanci Villante and her husband Tony, Jack Byrne and his wife June and James Byrne and his wife Barbara. She leaves behind an amazingly large family and many, many dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Friday, January 25 from 4-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26 at 10:00 a.m.in Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA .Interment will follow in Woodside Cemetery, Summer Street, Yarmouth Port.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Danafarbergiving.org

Ohhh Kristin ... I absolutely have no words, "I'm sorry" is so inadequate. I didn't know of her recent diagnosis. There are positives and negatives to only just finding out and (as cliche as it sounds) you can take some comfort that she didn't endure endless suffering. You're never, ever, ever, ready to lose someone close to you. She was such a great woman, I will forever remember her as always smiling. :) The obituary picture is stunning. You're family is special to me. I'm holding you all close to my heart. ❤
Please accept my sincere sympathies on Kathy's passing. She will be surely missed. Let's not be sad because she is gone. Let's be happy because she was here.
Kathy has been the linchpin of the Serpone family from the beginning. Loved by all who knew her, benefited by all who watched her. Another Angel has her wings. God bless you, Kathy. We'll miss you. You leave hole that'll never be filled. Dennis
