Reta Webster Russell

Reta Webster Russell, 95, of West Yarmouth, died Friday, August 14, 2015, at Mayflower Place Nursing Center.   She was the wife of the late John H. Russell for 54 years.
Born in Natick, Mrs. Russell was raised in the Needham area known as Charles River Village, where she was a graduate of Needham High School as well as Bryant and Stratton Business School in Boston.  She was employed by Roslindale Cooperative Bank, followed by the Roxbury Highland Cooperative Bank. Later, she was a bookkeeper for a Boston food broker.
Mrs. Russell and her husband lived in the Hudson Valley, NY; later moving to Lexington, KY.  Then, they lived in the Netherlands   for a year, returning to Dutchess County, NY in 1963.
While living in the Poughkeepsie, NY area, Mrs. Russell served on the Executive board of the Dutchess County Extension Service. She was an active member and past president of Dutchess County Garden Club, enjoying her hobby of growing orchids and African Violets.  She and her husband enjoyed the sport of trout fishing.
Mrs. Russell and her husband retired to West Yarmouth in 1978, where she was a member of the Matakese Chapter #158, Order of the Eastern Star in South Yarmouth, as well as a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church in Harwich Port.
In 2002, she moved to Mayflower Place in West Yarmouth, where she lived until her passing.  During her life at Mayflower Place, Mrs. Russell enjoyed playing bridge and other activities with rhe friends. She often spoke positively of the care she received from the staff during the years she resided there.
Survivors include her nephew, Eric Webster and his wife, Christine, of Waterboro, ME; Great-Niece, Beth Perko of Rochester, NH; great-nephew, Matthew Webster of ME,  four great-grand nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia and cousins in Canada. Mrs. Russell was predeceased by her brother, Earle Freeman Webster.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20th, at 12:30pm followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00pm, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth.  Burial will be private.

My sincere condolences to other extended family members of my Cousin Reta. I have wonderful childhood memories of her and John visiting our family in Aylesford/Auburn in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia.
