After suffering with Alzheimer’s for several years, Ale Statema was called to his heavenly home Thursday December 7, 2017.

An immigrant from The Netherlands, Ale loved this country for all the opportunities it offered. He graduated university with the highest honors, became a CPA, and with skill, hard work, and great dedication to his clients, became a senior partner at Malesardi, Quackenbush, Swift & Company in Englewood, NJ.

In 1994 Ale retired, and he and his wife, Auke, settled on Cape Cod, MA. But he never fully retired! He was always busy using his talents as a CPA to help churches, non-profit organizations, and friends, particularly those bereaved of a loved one.

Ale’s faith and love for the Lord Jesus were strong and he sought to live out his faith in his daily life. His love and devotion for his wife of 57 years was never evidenced more than in his care of her during the years she also suffered with Alzheimer’s. His nurture, love and devotion to his daughters is a legacy they will always cherish. His kindness and gentlemanly manners were displayed throughout his life, even when Alzheimer’s had claimed so much of his mind, and his example of contentment and joy in life were a testimony to his faith.

We will greatly miss his kindness, care, wit, and humor; and we look forward to the day when he will be there with the Lord to welcome us to heaven. I Thessalonians 4:13-18.

We, his family, are so thankful that we were able to care for him at home, and are grateful to the wonderful nurses, health aides, and staff of Hope Hospice for helping us make this possible.

A church service, in celebration of his life, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday December 10 in Grace Church, 16 Center St., East Dennis.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in Ale’s memory, to Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601

I am so very sorry that you have suffered this loss. It is hard to know just what to say when a loved one dies. Be assured that our loving Creator is aware of your loss and pain. Through His Son, Christ Jesus, he has arranged to bring back to life, "all those in the Memorial tombs." (John 5:28,29) At that time, Rev. 21:3-5 says: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new.” Also, he says: “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” I am very sorry for your loss. May God's Word, the Bible comfort you and your family. Sincerely, Meryl, jw.org - healingwordsforu@gmail.com
