Frederick Alan Thompson, born on August 20, 1926 to Alan McClain Thompson and Isabelle Russell Thompson of Boston, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the age of 91.
Fred was a very special person to all. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and went on to school at Boston School of Art for commercial art. He moved to New York City where he spent many years working as a commercial artist. He worked for Coca Cola Co.
He moved back to Cape Cod to care for his mother, Isabelle Thompson at which time he began teaching commercial art at colleges and eventually he taught at New Bedford High School where he had a major impact on the lives of his students as well as many other people in his lifetime.
Fred had a strong spiritual faith and ethics. He loved animals and helped them whenever he could. He enjoyed painting, cooking, photography, designing and gardening. Fred was always there for his entire family and friends.
Surviving are his brother, Roland Thompson, his nieces, Julia Thompson-Morrison, Linda Aguilar, Lorain Rice, his nephews, Scott Thompson, Johnny Harrison and Mark Thompson.
