Girard A. Gaouette 85, of Hernando, FL and formerly of Hyannis died Saturday October 21, 2017 in Inverness, FL.
He was the loving husband of Carol A. (Marrin) Gaouette for 60 years.
Born in Springfield, Girard was the son of the late Alexis and Ida (Fontaine) Gaouette. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal in 1955.
Girard was a personnel manager for most of his life. He was employed by the Friendly Ice Cream Corporation for 40 years before becoming a U.S. Postal carrier. He moved to Florida in 2015.
A 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Girard was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Hyannis. He was a Rotarian, loved boating, fishing and taking trips with his wife.
In addition to his wife, Girard is survived by his children, Michael and his wife, Cheryl of Beverly Hills, FL, Lisa Queenan and her partner, Nancy Immel of Bernalillo, NM. He was predeceased by his sisters, Rita Gaouette and Gertrude Lanciault.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday October 31 in St. Francis Xavier Church, 347 South St., Hyannis.
Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday November 1 in the Massachusetts Cemetery, Bourne.
