Shirley L. Loud 87 of South Yarmouth died Friday October 20, 2017.
Born in Dennis, Shirley was the daughter of the late Hermon and Lucile (Robbins) Loud. She was a 1948 graduate of Yarmouth High School and a 1950 graduate of the Kathleen Dell School in Brookline.
Shirley worked as a secretary at the General Adjustment Bureau and then as an executive secretary for the Buzzards Bay Gas Company (now National Grid).
A Past Matron and a sixty two year member of the Matakese Chapter #158 Order of Eastern Star in South Yarmouth, Shirley was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation, a lifetime member of the Ladies of St. John’s Hospital in Lowell (now Saints Memorial Hospital), as well as a lifetime member of the Lowell Quilt Museum and the Dennis Historical Society.
Shirley is survived by a sister, Nancy M. Williams and her husband, Robert of Harwich; a step-daughter, Karen Delaney of South Yarmouth; a step-son, F. Lawrence Putnam, III of Tarpon Springs, FL; several loving nieces and nephews; and also a close friend in Port Orange, FL. In addition to her parents, Shirley is predeceased by two sisters, Phyllis M. Chase and Lois W. Sylver; two step-sons, Andrew W. Putnam and Bradley I. Putnam; and her former husband of 42 years, Frederic L. Putnam, Jr.
Funeral services will be private.
