Audrey M. (Phillips) Hall
May 28th, 2017
Audrey M. (Phillips) Hall 95 of Yarmouth Port died at her home Sunday May 28, 2017.
Born in Taunton, Mrs. Hall was the daughter of the late E. Merle and Mary M. (Gilson) Phillips. She was educated in Taunton Schools and graduated in 1940 from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston.
Mrs. Hall was the wife of the late Phillip T. Hall, who died in 2011. They had been married for 70 years. They honeymooned on the United States Army transport USAT Ship Hunter Liggett -- New York to Honolulu, HI. The couple was living at Wheeler Field during the bombing of Pearl Harbor, a horrific event that bonded them for life.
Following World War II, they moved to Worcester, where they raised their family, and worked tirelessly for charitable causes through the First Baptist Church, the Masons and the Grotto. They retired to Dennis in 1981 and joined the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth.
Audrey was a talented homemaker, an avid reader and gardener, and especially enjoyed social interactions with her many friends and neighbors. Following Phil’s death in 2011, Audrey moved to Heatherwood in Yarmouth Port, where she continued to enjoy a busy social life. Audrey will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered.
The family thanks Patty O’Donnell’s Hospice Group for the skilled, kind and tender care that Audrey received in the last weeks of her life.
Mrs. Hall is survived by a son, Phillip T. “Pete” Hall, Jr. and his wife, Ruth of Tunbridge, VT; two daughters, Cheryl Kelly and her husband, William of East Sandwich, and Cynthia Hall and her husband, Andrew T. Plante of Moretown, VT; and four grandchildren, Nicholas and Tyler Hall, Micah Plante, and Sarah Park.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday June 11 at Heatherwood at Kings Way, Yarmouth Port.
Interment will be private.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod – Hospice, 434 Route 134, Suite D-3, South Dennis, MA 02660.
