Paul David Rand

Paul David Rand 92, a resident of Cummaquid since 1993, died Thursday March 30, 2017 at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Sandwich.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Kelley) Rand for 49 years.
Born, raised and educated in Bristol, CT, Mr. Rand was the son of the late Adolph and Frances (Droge) Rindfleisch.
Mr. Rand was a 1944 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. He served as an Assistant Engineer during World War II in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Mediterranean theatres. He also was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserves.
Mr. Rand was an automobile sales executive for many years, and was a home remodeler.
While a resident of Stamford, CT, Mr. Rand served on the Stamford Board of Representatives, the Boy Scouts Council, the Navy League Cadets, and the Jaycees. He also was a member of the Sheldrake Yacht Club, the Kiwanis Club, serving as president in 1960, and he volunteered at the Naval Reserve Training Center. He was an active blood donor, having donated over 274 gallons to the American Red Cross.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Rand is survived by a sister, Harriet Merrill and her husband, George of Forestville, CT; several great nieces; and great nephews. He was predeceased in 2001 by a son, Paul D. Rand, Jr.
Funeral services will be private.
