Roberta E. Kinkead, aged 82, of Yarmouth Port passed away Friday, March twenty-fourth, after a brief illness. Roberta was born, raised and educated in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of John F. and D. Muriel (nee Seymour) McKenna. Roberta’s childhood home away from home was with her much cherished grandparents, John and Ellen (nee Good) McKenna, in Bristol, Rhode Island where she spent many happy summers and school vacations on their small farm. Roberta graduated from the Rhode Island College of Education in 1956 and took on her first teaching role in North Providence. Prior to graduation Roberta spent her college summers on Cape Cod where she met fellow Providence native, Richard G. Kinkead, who became her husband of fifty-four years until his passing in 2011. Richard and Roberta both fell in love with Cape Cod and made it their home where they raised their three children, Richard H., Jean M. and Kevin J. Kinkead. Roberta spent many dedicated years as a teacher at Marguerite E. Small Elementary School, in West Yarmouth while also caring for her family and home. She was active in charitable and club activities and for several years served as president of the Friday Club, serving the Yarmouth community, and was a member of the Yarmouth Port Library. Roberta was predeceased by her husband Richard G. Kinkead and her brother, John F. McKenna, Jr. In addition to her sons and daughter, Roberta leaves behind her surviving siblings, her sister Mary Carreiro and brother Peter McKenna; her grandchildren Benjamin, Daniel, Megan, Michael, and Stephen; her great grandchildren Asa, Carter and Max; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
