Francis X. Sullivan
Feb 14th, 2017
Yarmouthport: Francis X Sullivan, 87, passed away on February 14, 2017 in the presence of his beloved family after a long hard battle with cancer.
Born in Worcester, MA on May 11, 1929, “Sully” moved to the Cape in the early 1940s with his late and dear parents, Bridie and Charles Sullivan and his sisters and brothers, Margaret “Peggy”, Mary, John, Charles “Jimmy”, Paul and Robert. Uncle Fran continued to enjoy his many wonderful nieces and nephews of whom he was extremely fond.
Fran leaves behind his very beloved wife of 65 years, Marion (Johnson) Sullivan; his seven sons, Stephen, Jeffrey, John, David and his wife, Ginny, Michael, Robert and Scott and his wife, Lisa; his grandchildren, Sabra, Stasia, Rachel, Megan, Alison, Jacob, Grady, Owen, Paul, Connor and Ben, plus several great grandchildren, all of whom he would say daily made him proud and left him feeling blessed and lucky. His sons are all grateful for all the time he shared, with all the lessons and skills taught, for advice, for the years of coaching, for time spent camping and traveling and for so much more. His heart was big and he tried to share it generously with all.
Fran had many hobbies and interests and talents. He could sketch, draw, carve and build. He enjoyed the outdoors and was very passionate about his horses and all his animals, especially his dog, Wilma, who was with him right to the end.
As a young man he was employed at R.B. Corcoran in Hyannis before and after his enlistment and honorable discharge from the Army National Guard where he was stationed at Camp Edwards. Subsequently, Fran owned and operated Sully’s Plumbing & Heating.
Over the years The Sullivan Brothers’ Builders and Fran and his sons took part in the Cape’s building trades. Lastly, employed by the Dennis-Yarmouth School District as the Complex Supervisor, he enjoyed his retirement and spent it on the Cape as well as occasionally wintering in West Palm Beach, Florida with family members.
On his behalf, the Sullivan family would like to sincerely thank the many highly skilled professional health care workers, doctors, nurses,
emergency responders, and friends and family for all the excellent support, help and love throughout the years.
“Husband, Dad, Grampa, Uncle Fran, Sully, Frank, we are grateful to have had you in our lives. We will continue to love you and pray for you. God bless and may peace be with you forever. Thank you for your unwavering love and endless memories.”
