Shirley Jean Paladino died peacefully at Cape Cod Hospital Hyannis, Massachusetts on September 18, 2016 at the age of 83. She is survived by her husband, Vincent, of Dennis, MA; her children, Christina Monahan and her husband James, of Sturbridge, MA, Luanne Daly and her husband John, of Worcester, MA, Deanna Webber of Dover, NH, Suzanne Paladino-Lussier of Barre, MA, and Jody Concha, of Greenville, SC. Shirley is also survived by her sister, Beverly Anderson of LaQuinta, CA and by 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister, Carolyn, wife of Loughlin Belcher.
Shirley was born On March 27, 1933 in Jamaica Plain. She graduated from Cathedral High School, Springfield, MA, and then later married Vincent Paladino, a master plasterer on February 7, 1953. A talented seamstress, Shirley custom made all her daughters’ clothing throughout their childhoods. Additionally, she applied her sewing skills for 25 years at Trippi’s Men’s Clothing Store in Shrewsbury, MA.
Always keen on politics, Shirley was active in Paul Leahy’s City Council campaign of the 1970’s. She also volunteered as a sewing and cake decorating instructor at the Division of Youth Services in Worcester. In later years, she sewed infant clothing for Problem Pregnancy, a pro-life organization in Worcester. Accomplished at organizing events, Shirley, with her husband, Vinnie, hosted popular Friday cribbage games at the Senior Center in Dennis, MA.
Shirley was a generous and witty individual who loved people and who was passionate about making sure that everyone she encountered felt welcomed. As a 2008 Ms. Senior Cape Cod pageant contestant, Shirley said in a speech: “When I leave this world I want my epitaph to read ‘She made people smile.’” Everyone in her wide circle of friends had a place in her heart.
Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 4-7 P.M. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Cape Church, Stony Brook Rd., Brewster, MA at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 24. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Shirley’s life. Contributions in her memory may be made to The Friends of Dennis Senior Citizens ,1045 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Cape Cod Hospital for their care and dedication.

I'm so very sorry to hear the news of your recent loss.
