Deirdre A. Casey
Aug 1st, 2016
Deirdre A. Casey 72 of Yarmouthport died Monday August 1, 2016.
Born, raised and educated in Waltham, Deirdre was the daughter of the late Henry R. and Margaret J. (Larkin) Casey. She was a 1961 graduate of St. Mary’s High School, a 1965 graduate of Regis College with a BA in Mathematics and she received her Master’s degree from Boston College.
Deirdre worked for Itek for three years before working for The Gillette Company from 1968 to 2001. She joined Gillette as a computer programmer and rose through the corporate information technology field until her retirement from the company’s Global Business Process Integration (GBPI) project. Deirdre’s unique knowledge of the company’s Interdivisional Order Processing System (IDOPS), her role as a much respected manager, colleague and mentor, and the regard with which she was held across the business and IT communities made her a lead member of the GBPI. Her knowledge and historical perspective were major elements of its success.
After her retirement, she moved to Yarmouthport where she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister at St Pius X Church in South Yarmouth. She also volunteered for the Barnstable School System and the American Red Cross. She enjoyed knitting and traveling.
Deirdre is survived by a brother Dr. Henry R. Casey, Jr. and his wife, Lynn of Cummaquid; three nieces, Maggie Bourassa of Quincy, Anna Mancuso of Charlestown, and Maire Wray of Baltimore, MD; a nephew, Michael Casey of Los Angeles, CA; and three grand nieces and one grand nephew.

To the family my deepest condolences. The death of a cherished loved one is so devastating. At times it seems unbearable. Please know that there are those who care and more importantly Psalm 34:18 tells us that God is near to those who are broken at heart. He is the God of all comfort. My thoughts are with you and the family.
