George H. Coakley 69 of Yarmouth and formerly a longtime resident of Brewster died Wednesday June 22, 2016, after a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Born in Hyannis, George was the son of the late Arthur E. and Emily P. (Baker) Coakley.
George was employed by the Brewster Water Department and was a call firefighter in Brewster for 13 years. He was an avid fisherman and was happiest when casting his line at Breakwater Beach in Brewster and at Nauset Beach in Orleans.
George is survived by two sons, Brendan of Nantucket and Yarmouthport, and Nathan of Dennis; two brothers, Richard of Cohasset, and Wayne of St. Petersburg, FL; a grandson; a cousin, Elaine Williams of Brewster; and his former wife Ginger (Nixon) Coakley of Yarmouthport.
A memorial service will be held, in his honor, at 3:30 p.m. Thursday July 14, 2016 in Red Top Cemetery, Stony Brook Road, Brewster.
