Douglas "Doug" Anton Sederquist

Douglas “Doug” Anton Sederquist of West Yarmouth, husband of Patricia Sederquist for 64 years, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025. He was 85 years old.
Doug was born on July 1, 1939 to the late Ralph and Kathleen Sederquist and was the brother of the late Kathleen Gates.
Doug grew up in Waltham, MA, graduated from Waltham High School, then served his country in the United States Navy during The Bay of Pigs in Cuba. Upon discharge he attended and graduated from New England Institute of Anatomy and Embalming. He worked in the funeral business and then went on as a sales representative for Wilbert Vault Company.
Doug was very social and had many friends. His philosophy was that there is no such thing as a stranger, but a friend you haven’t met yet. At Smugglers Beach he was dubbed “The Mayor” for talking to anyone and everyone and had a joke for every one of them. He loved being on the beach.
He was a member of Mt. Horeb Masonic Lodge in South Dennis as well as a member of The Shriners and an active member of the fire brigade. He loved helping the children and participated in parades which helped him do that. He also belonged to other organizations that were service oriented. His passion was travel and he enjoyed the many countries he and Pat visited. He loved Ixtapa, Mexico and considered his Mexican friends, family.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Wendy Slavin, brother-in-law Alan Malkasian and his wife Marion and
brother-in-law Bill Gates as well as many nephews and nieces who he adored.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
