It brings great sadness to announce the passing of Derek J. Scibeck, age 55, of South Dennis, Mass., on February 14, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Derek was at home surrounded by his family.

He is predeceased by his mother Mae L. Scibeck, who gave birth to him and his brother on Mother’s Day in 1969. He is survived by his wife Xaman Ek Alejandra Scibeck; and two young daughters Nayla and Dillon (Amanda). He also leaves behind his father Joseph Scibeck and stepmother Lauren, his twin brother Doug Scibeck and niece Lucy and nephew Lucas.

Derek loved spending time with family, especially his daughters.

Derek graduated from Norwood High School and served for 4 years in the US Army, for which he was most proud of his time with the 101st airborne unit. He was a longtime employee of Comcast.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 24, 2025 from 3 – 5 PM at Hallet Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA 02664 with a brief service by the Army Honor Guard at 5 PM to commemorate Derek’s service to his country.
