Kenneth E Reed Sr. of Dennis Port, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Cape Cod Hospital. Ken was born in Athol, MA in 1934, grew up in Orange, MA and graduated from Orange High School in 1953. The following fall, he joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served until 1956. Following his honorable discharge he attended and graduated from Suffolk University in Boston and received an M.B.A from Northeastern University. Ken married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Frances May on July 17, 1960. They raised three special sons, Kenneth Jr., Andrew and Mark.
Over his 40 year career in manufacturing, his keen business sense, financial background and practical management style allowed him to assume top executive leadership positions in various companies. In the early 1970s, he owned and operated a successful business, “The Shoeman”, in Boulder and Grand Junction, Colorado.
After retiring to Cape Cod, Ken worked as a seasonal Park Ranger for Acadia National Park and while working there he purchased his beloved camp on George’s Pond in Franklin, Maine. He truly cherished the time spent with family and friends. His personal values of charity, honesty, respect and truthfulness served him well during his life.
Ken leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Frances M. Reed, his two sons, Kenneth Jr. and his wife Jackie, Andrew and his wife Rachel, his brother Allison Hinds and his wife Jeanne Camperchioli. He leaves six grandchildren Rachel, Riley, Paxton, Spencer, Jacob and Hannah Reed. Ken was predeceased by his son Mark.
The wisdom of his advice and counsel will continue to make a positive impact on people’s lives well into the future. A celebration of life is being planned for the spring of 2025 at Northside United Methodist Church in Brewster, MA.
