June M. Damond
Nov 7th, 2024
June M. Damond, age 100, of Hyannis, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.
Born in Rochester, New York, she was the daughter of the late Florence (Randall) and Arthur Gresens.
June spent the early years of her life in upstate New York. With the passing of their parents June assumed the responsibility of raising her sister, Joyce (Gresens) Webster. When her sister and brother-in-law Milo, along with their family, moved to Massachusetts, June moved with them. The two sisters remained especially close throughout the years, always living within a few miles of one another. It would not be unusual to find the two of these ladies shopping the aisles of the Christmas Tree Shop or Macy’s, laughing and enjoying one another’s company before stopping for a cup of coffee and bagel from their favorite Dunkin’ Donuts.
June worked as an executive secretary in the corporate offices of Jordan Marsh for more than 40 years. After her retirement from Jordon Marsh, June volunteered at the Mayflower Rehabilitation Center and worked part-time in the gift shop of the Sheraton Hyannis where she met and remained close with her friends Lemke and Brenda for many years.
June had the good fortune of being connected to Dave Bruce who took June out for trips and adventures all over Cape Cod. Their discussions of her beloved Red Sox were always a high point of June’s day.
It takes a village, as the expression goes, and the village was always there in support of June. A very special thanks to the Baxter family including the entire Baxter Crane crew who were always ready to offer a helping hand with anything she may have needed.
June is predeceased by her brother Arthur and sister Joyce. She is survived by her nieces, Mylene and Karen, and nephews, Mark, Milo Jr, and Randall. Aunt June held a very special place in her heart for her sports buddy, Michael, her niece’s husband. Aunt June will continue to live in our hearts always.
Funeral services will be private.
