South Yarmouth-Jean Martha (Bush) Brunton, 97, died peacefully on October 17, 2024 after a short illness. She was the daughter of Henry (‘Joe’) Bush and Martha (Wohlfahrt) Bush. Born and brought up in Springfield MA, she worked as a bookkeeper at Springfield National Bank after graduating from Commerce High School. In 1949 she married the love of her life, Thomas E. Brunton. Jean and Tom resided in Western MA until moving to Cape Cod in 1985. Jean’s greatest joy in life was her family. She enjoyed being outside gardening, going to the beach and spending time with her friends; she always had a ready smile.

Jean leaves her daughter Joanne Wedge and husband Paul of West Yarmouth, MA, and son James and wife Cindy of Springfield, MA. She also leaves her grandchildren Edward and wife Kaye, Thomas, William, Monica and Clare, and her great grandson Benson. In addition, she leaves her sister Ruth Owen of Longmeadow, MA, nephew David and niece Martha Grabe.

Visiting hours will be held from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue in South Yarmouth, MA. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Jean’s memory to Elder Services of Cape Cod & the Islands, 68 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660 or to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, 34 Washington St., Suite 230, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
