It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Barry Neil Robbins, 64, of West Dennis, MA.  Barry left us peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and friends on October 10, 2024.  Barry fought a courageous four-month battle against urothelial cancer.

Born in Barnstable, MA, Barry was a 14th-generation descendant of the Mayflower, a legacy he cherished deeply. He was the beloved son of the late Alton Linwood Robbins II and Anita Mae (Young). Barry was predeceased by four siblings: Alton "Butchy" Robbins, Richard "Tommy" Robbins, Tracey Lee McCallister and Dana Greg Robbins.

Barry is survived by his devoted husband of 33 years, Brian Devaney, who stood by his side through every chapter of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Sarena (Robbins) McCarthy, who held a special place in his heart.

After graduating from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, Barry served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. Upon returning home, he embraced the family legacy, becoming a third-generation grave digger. Barry was known far and wide for his incredible strength and dedication, often digging graves with nothing but his back and a shovel—a testament to his unwavering work ethic and respect for tradition. In his later years, Barry co-owned with his husband Cape Cod Memorials where he continued to serve his community with compassion and care.

Beyond his work, Barry had a profound love for travel. He explored 10 European countries, visited over six Caribbean islands, innumerable states and embarked on four Mediterranean cruises. His annual pilgrimage to Key West was a cherished tradition, one he honored at least 45 times. Barry's adventures were a reflection of his zest for life and his appreciation for the beauty of the world around him.

Barry was also a talented gardener.  His backyard oasis - Key West Dennis - was famous for the exceptional number and diversity of flowers and plants that brightened his pool area!

Barry Neil Robbins will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication to family and community, and his love of exploration. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

All are invited to attend a graveside service on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 11:30 A.M. in Swan Lake Cemetery, Depot St., Dennis Port, MA.  A celebration of his life will follow at Chapin’s Fish and Chips, Dennis Port, MA.
