Bernard W. “Bernie” Richardson, 89, of Eastham MA, passed away on Sunday morning, September 29, 2024 at Cape Cod Hospital following a period of declining health. Bernie was born in Orleans, MA on April 1, 1935, the son of LeRoy and Elizabeth (MacDougall) Richardson.

A lifelong resident of Eastham, Bernie was raised and educated in Orleans before attending Bristol County Agricultural School in Dighton, MA., graduating in 1953.

Bernie served with the National Guard. He also served on the board at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School for many years and was very proud of his role in helping to create the new school.

Bernie worked for Nickerson Homes before becoming a self-employed builder of many homes on the Cape. He also realized his dream by creating a gentleman’s farm in Abbot, ME: raising chickens, geese and cows.  He loved to hunt, fish and garden and was an avid decoy enthusiast.

He was married to Regina G. (Smith) for 58 years before she pre-deceased him in 2013. He was also predeceased by his brother, LeRoy F. Richardson of Eastham, MA and sister, Anna M. (Richardson) Morse of Eastham, MA.

Bernie is survived by his brother, Donald L. Richardson of Kailua, HI., a half-brother, Dana Richardson of Eastham, and a half-sister, Joannie (Richardson) Christian of Spring Hill, FL. He is also survived by his children: Cheryl M. (Richardson) Atamaniuk of Brattleboro, VT, Donna L. (Richardson) Rowell of Center Ossipee, NH, Stephen W. Richardson of Eastham, MA and Laura J. (Richardson) Eldridge of Eastham MA, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his dear friend, Juell Buckwold of Harwich, MA.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA of Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 4-6 p.m.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Eastham, MA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Cape Cod Tech Scholarship Fund, 351 Pleasant Lake Ave, Harwich, MA 02645.
