Paul Frederick Prue of Dennis, MA  passed away at his home in the early hours of Monday, September 23, 2024.  Paul was born in Grafton, MA, on July 1,1935, the son of Wilfred Emile and Florence Victoria (Larking) Prue.
 
Paul was predeceased by his parents, his brother Grandval Prue, his two step-brothers Robert and Donald Nuttall, former wife Edna May (Kelley) Prue and his beloved daughter Marsha Annette (Prue) Bennison.

Paul is survived by his wife Barbara (Buckley) Prue, his daughter Michelle (Prue) and her husband Win Norsworthy, his son Paul G. Prue and his sister Donna (Prue) Churchill Joly.  He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Paul R. Prue, Amanda Prue, Jaime (Moon) Tracy, Kylene Molinaro, Nathan Norsworthy, Kevin Norsworthy, Katie Norsworthy, Dustin Souza, Samuel Bennison and Phillip Bennison as well as five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Paul graduated from Yarmouth High School, class of 1953.  Following his graduation from the Wentworth Institute of Technology, class of 1955, he joined the family business, Prue Foundry which he continued to operate for more than 60 years with his brother Grandval and son Paul.  After the closure of Prue Foundry, Paul continued to provide private contracting services to his customers up until six months before his death. 

While starting a young family and his foundry career, Paul joined the Massachusetts National Guard, 685AAA Battery D at Camp Wellfleet along with his life-long friends Charles Crowell and Robert Hersey.

 Service to his community began when he joined the Dennis Call Fire Service.  He retired as a Deputy Fire Chief after more than 47 years of continuous service.  Over the years he trained many of the Dennis call firefighters.  He was a charter member of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy and served there as an instructor for many years. 

In his public service he was a member and Chairman of the Republican Town Committee, member of the Dennis Conservation Trust Board of Directors as well as serving on several ad hoc and standing town committees.  Paul was elected as a Dennis Water District Commissioner in 1977 following the passing of Norman Hallett and remained a Water Commissioner until his death, having served as Chair since 2009. 

Paul traveled to Egypt several times and became a mentor-parent under the Fulbright Scholarship Program at Cape Cod Community College maintaining a close relationship with Mohamed, Basam and especially Hend Elkordy.

Paul had a complete life full of friends and family, travel, hobbies and interests.  He was a beekeeper and a paton of the arts, reveling in local history and recounting many stories about the life and times in Dennis to the delight of all who knew him.

Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 1-4 p.m.  A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Dennis Village Cemetery, Route 6A, Dennis, MA 02638.
