Daniel “Dan” Kent, 96, Yarmouth Port, MA, passed peacefully on August 13, 2024 at the Pavilion Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hyannis, MA.
Dan was born to parents, Danny and Louise. He grew up in New York City before joining the Navy and served from 1945-1947 during World War II. Upon his discharge, he used his GI Benefits to earn his bachelor’s degree from New York University (NYU).
In 1957, he met Carolyn “Lyn” Crowell on a Thanksgiving-time Norwegian Cruise. The two married on February 22, 1958. Dan and Lyn enjoyed 66 years of marriage and had three wonderful children together: Lisa, Daniel, and Karyn.
The two raised their children in Framingham, MA where Dan had a successful career with the Dames & Jennifer Dale Corporation, starting as their Office Manager and later moving into travelling sales. He served two terms as president of the professional association, NELNA.
After their children were grown, Dan and Lyn moved to Cummaquid and later Yarmouth Port, MA where they have lived for more than 30 years.
Dan was always an example of hard work as the key to success. In retirement, Dan worked for over 15 years at the Sears Auto Center in Hyannis, MA where he was well-liked and respected by co-workers and customers alike. In recent years, Dan spent time at the Yarmouth Senior Center where he took pride in helping with their programming. He loved reading, history, talk radio, music – especially Miles Davis, visiting the Cape Cod Playhouse and other local Cape theatres.
Known for being resilient and strong-willed, we expected Dan to outlive us all.
