Dale Emily (Arlin) Whittemore, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother of Yarmouth Port, MA and Vero Beach, FL passed away at home on June 16, 2024 after a short illness.

Dale, forever known as MA, G-MA, Bammie and GG was born on July 2, 1946 in Dover, NH. She lived in Barrington and Dover, NH until 1974 when she moved to Yarmouth Port, MA to be with the love of her life, David Whittemore.

Dale was the daughter of Norman and Dorothy (Gibb) Arlin of Barrington, NH,sister of Neil Arlin and wife, or cutie, of David Whittemore for 49 years.  Dale is survived by four children:  Sonya MacDonald and her husband Dana of Harwich, MA, Andrea McGuinness and her late husband Timothy of Northborough, MA, Jennifer Bunnell and her husband, Matthew of West Barnstable, MA and Jeffrey Whittemore and his wife, Aimee of Harwich, MA. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Dayton, Christopher, Molly, Sean, Sam, Ethan, Madison, Aidan, Grace, Sarah, Jack, Jacob and Myles and five great grandchildren: Aquinnah, Lola, Finnley, Ivey, Lelia and Malakai.

She was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Many of her traits have been passed on to her family and will continue to live on with them.

She graduated from Dover High School in 1964, attended McIntosh College in New Hampshire and worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Weymouth Naval Air Station and Otis Air Force Base before starting a day care business in Yarmouth Port which spanned 40 years.  Many children passed through her doors. She was a second mom to so many kids.  Many of them still kept in touch and brought their children to meet the woman that had such an impact on their lives in so many ways.

She will forever be remembered for her love of home, family, Cape Cod, Vero Beach and the friends that she made wherever she went.  Everyone she met she made them feel like family. Boating, gardening, walking the beach to collect beach glass, sitting by the pool, hosting so many gatherings for family and friends, including the infamous Friday pizza nights were dear to her heart. She loved going for rides in the classic cars restored by her beloved husband, David.

Dale was a member of the Friday Club of Yarmouth Port, the Red Hats Society and Cape Cod Classics. She touched so many lives with her love and compassion and will be greatly missed for the smile on her face.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave. South Yarmouth, MA on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 4-6 pm.  Interment will be private. Dear David and family, I can’t believe that wonderful Dale has left our planet. Words fail to express how meeting and knowing her in my early life impacted me! Her kindness, playfulness and wisdom modeled early on has been a rudder throughout life. And the friendship and caring she showed my mother was always so true. I will miss knowing she’s here doing wonderful things with those she loves. Deepest condolences to all. Adrianne Alvarez- Jackson

Dear David and Family, We are so sorry, for all of you, for the loss of Dale. She was loved by so many. Having come from such a big family, I would say she ranked number one in popularity for being upbeat and fun loving. A one of a kind personality, and David, you made her so complete. You all take care of yourselves with such wonderful memories, and each other. Love, Dennis and Joanne Kelley

Was very sorry to hear of Dale's passing. Any interaction with her was always very entertaining. I think because we shared the same first name, and I was a male, she went out of her way to talk when we bumped into one another. Liked her energy and sense of humor and am not surprised that she really touched the other people who left messages. David, my very best to you and your family through this tough time

There isn't a new Years Eve that goes by without wishing we were spending it at your beautiful home. The elegant antique place settings and glassware. The most incredibly warm and loving atmosphere where friends and family shared an amazing meal and welcomed in the New Year. Dale and David shared their love for each other with all of us. Our sons will always have a special place in their hearts for the caring that was shown them by Dale. She was amazing and if a child was communicating with her that was the only person who mattered at that moment. She was a gift to us and everyone who new her.
