Ian Scott Nicholson, a beloved father, son, brother and friend passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2024, in Hyannis, MA. Ian was born in Hyannis on February 17, 1983. He leaves behind his daughters, Cassidy Nicholson and Zoey Nicholson, their mother Samantha Aronne, his mother Sharon Miller and his father Stephen Nicholson and his wife Doris.

In true Cape Cod local fashion, his life and legacy were deeply interwoven in the communities of which he was a part. Ian graduated from Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in the culinary arts department. Among his many achievements during his high school career his time on the basketball court was some of his proudest memories. The time he spent reminiscing about his friendships in high school were mostly interrupted with a burst of laughter and a shake of his head. He had the time of his life. In fact, he went back to Cape Cod Tech this past fall and coached the girls basketball freshmen team, something he was so honored to do.

Professionally, Ian could have been found in any top-rated kitchen on Cape Cod. However, his home kitchen was always The Chatham Squire, a place where he was able to perfect his culinary skills as a chef as well as being part of the close-knit Squire family.

With all of Ian’s titles in life, his favorite was Dad. A true girls’ Dad, Ian embraced having two daughters. He was never one to shy away from a manicure or new hair-do. He never said no to a trip to Target and always encouraged his daughters to “get back up and try again”. There is no word to capture the love he had for his two daughters. He truly was their “Superman”.

In addition to his daughters and parents he is survived by his paternal grandparents Stephen and Suzanne and his beloved siblings Kelly, Elias and James. He will never be forgotten by the two other musketeers, Jackie and Brad and will be missed by the many cousins and friends he had through his lifetime.

Ian’s mark on this world will last forever.

Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA 02664 on Friday, June 14 from 5-7pm.  A private memorial service will be held with plans for a celebration of life at a later date.

Contributions may be made to Cape Cod Regional Technical High School (In memory of Ian Nicholson to benefit Culinary Arts or Girl’s Basketball) c/o the business office, 351 Pleasant Lake Ave, Harwich MA 02645.

My brother, my friend, and long time voice of reason, I was at a loss for words when the news came, and I still find it hard to find the words today to tell you how truely blessed and grateful to you for your true friendship over the years that I am and always will be. We lost touch for a lot of yrs, but reconnecting last Christmas was a true blessing and I'm happy to have had that chance to be back in each other's lives. I'll always have our memories, and will never forget you my G. You were loved and still are loved and will be truely missed by many. I love you bro and I'll see you on the other side, rest easy and save me a seat and a plate homie.

A profound loss for so many, Ian was a genuine man who loved his girls more than life. I had worked with him many years ago in springfield and he always talked about them. I’m terribly sorry to hear of his passing. May you find comfort in your wonderful memories.

You were someone that would call and check up on me.We would talk about life. Love. What we wanted to do next. You encouraged me to do better. To try harder and keep focus. Win or loss. We prepare everyday the same. This is a tough loss my G. I will miss you so much. The hours long talk. Your voice of reason. Rest easy my G! I still have our messages to always have you near.

My heart goes out to the family! Ian was a wonderful young man! He came to visit me with Brad and we reminiced for a while sometime back. Which of course made me laugh but I had to roll my eyes a few times of things he told me of his adventures with his friends. I loved Ian. He was special to me. He is forever in my heart! God bless to all the family!
