Betty Barsch, 76, of Yarmouth Port passed away on June 3, 2024. Annette Fiscina, the dearest person in her life, and her pup Tina Rose were by her side.

Betty was born during a blizzard to Josephine Barsch and Adolf Reitmeister in Flushing, New York. Betty was a kind and generous and loving person. She was devoted to her family who affectionately called her Bonnie.

She was a wonderful friend to all whom she knew and loved everyone unconditionally. Betty was very talented and accomplished in many different paths in her career. She showed her special talents when at the age of sixteen she sent a short story to the producers of Bonanza, a very popular television series. They loved it and turned it into one of their weekly shows. She started her work career in banking and acquired an Associate Degree from the Institute of Banking in Manhattan. Though she loved banking her great love was working directly with people. While working in Revlon and Random House Books she found her love for computers and training others to use them. She developed her Public Relation skills while Director of Training for Random House. She used those skills to roll out projects across the country.

For many years, Betty was a Women’s Society Board Member at St. Pius X as well as the Co-Chair of the Publicity Committee where she would send out the newsflashes, do the weekly bulletin inserts, and manage all the publicity for the summer and Christmas church fairs. In addition, she and Annette would dress up as Mrs. Clause and her Elf for the Children’s Corner and do crafts with the kids at the fair. The flower in her hair and her bubbly personality brought so much laughter and enjoyment to the room.

Her faithful devotion to Sr. Faustina, the Divine Mercy, the Blessed Mother, and St. Joseph was inspiring and comforting to many of us. Betty was compassionate, love filled, and had a strong faith in God. She spearheaded a prayer chain which went around the world 24 hours a day joining all faiths as one voice to pray for one purpose. She left an indelible presence to all who knew and loved her. As a member of the Prayer Warriors, Betty was always willing to pray for your intentions and kept you in her heart during tough times. We can now pray for Betty as she has made this final journey home to our heavenly Father and is now one with all the angels and saints. Betty will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth, MA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church on Station ave. Burial will follow at the Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth, MA.

In lieu of flowers, can be made to Best Friends Animal Society or St. Jude’s Research Hospital. If you have a local charity which you support, please feel free to do so.

Betty lived two houses from me where we grew up in the 1950's & 1960's! She was great and friendly!

Betty and I have been friends for over 20 years. That's a long time! Over the many years we have gotten to know each other very well. We met over a work conversation when she was still at Random House and the rest is history. Some of our phone conversations were very long and some very short. I know her family and she knows mine, especially my daughter, Lexie. In my family Betty is known as "Aunt Betty", and she is very special. To say Aunt Betty is funny, kind, generous and thoughtful would not be new information to anyone and to my family she was all of these things and so much more. Aunt Betty never missed a holiday or event in my daughter's life. She always showered her with the most beautiful presents and getting a package from Aunt Betty was a big deal. What an impact she had on my daughter's life. In addition to such extravagant gifts, she also always sent delicious food gifts for me to share with my family. Our many phone conversations were always lively and entertaining and over years we would just put the phone on speaker for all in the room to hear. These verbal exchanges were full of love and caring concern for one another. The good, the bad, the ugly and the awesome. Of course, we would agree on almost everything, including politics. I will miss these chats so much! To say I will miss Aunt Betty is such an understatement, you see Aunt Betty and I have never met in person! We formed a unique and wonderful friendship by simply taking over the phone. We always talked about Lexie and I coming to see her but there was never the right time. We would exchange pictures of our various life events, but never met face to face. Isn't that crazy! Aunt Betty we know where you are now and we know you are watching over us. What can be said about the Boopster! From the iconic flower in her hair to the beautiful smile, Betty was the real deal. I have only known her for a little over five years. She was welcoming, helpful, friendly, and giving. I have been on the receiving end of her great love and warmth. She was wonderful with the children, including Tina Rose. I will miss her deeply. Rest in peace Betty. We will take care of Annette.

What can I say about someone who always brought joy and love to everyone. We spent our entire lives together during good times and bad. We helped each other through many tough times during our lives and the special bond we shared just kept getting stronger with each passing day. We traveled together and lived together and enjoyed life together. I can’t picture not seeing her and enjoying life without her. The Boopster will always remain a special part of my life until we unite with our families and each other in God’s Home. I love you sweet one. Remember Love Is Forever. Annette

Betty was a dear member of our family & will be missed very much. She was fondly known as "Boop"! Betty always managed to cheer us up & make us laugh. She loved our mom, Gloria, very much & mom loved her to the moon. She was a bright light in this world, especially for Annette. With much love, always! Marie

There are no words to truly express the deep, true and loving friend, like a Sister— Betty along with Annette were and are to me! Betty brought God’s Love ❤️ that will never die, wherever, supportive as best friend/family, now that she rests with our Savior and Lord, Blessed Mother, Divine Mercy— in the Eternal arms forever! The joy she brought, her strong faith she taught and prayer warriors we prayed always— her and Annette filled my life, their Church always at Christmas fair, all they know, with the Love ❤️ Christ teaches us to bring to all! Betty was like a sister to me as well as Annette. Betty will be missed very much as we always texted each other or face timed when we could. They were both my family and will always be.
