June 29, 1953 - May 15, 2024
 
John F. Connell, Jr., known to his loved ones as "J.C.”, “Pockets" and “JBird”, passed away on May 15, 2024 at the age of 70.
 
John was born in South Weymouth, but spent the latter part of his life in South Yarmouth where he resided with his wife, Kathleen (McGrath) Connell. He is survived by his three children: Michael Bois and his wife Lynn, Katrina Bois and her fiancé Robert Buker, Kayla Arthur and her husband Brad. He was also the adoring papa of his five grandchildren: Leah, Kevin, Allison, Sophia and Ivy. John is survived by his brother David Connell and his wife Jan and his sister
Stacey Brown and her husband Frank. He was preceded in death by his brothers Michael and Tom Connell. He is also survived by countless nieces and nephews.
 
John's greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family and friends. He cherished his role as a husband, father, papa, brother and uncle. But most important to him was his wife Kathy. His love for her was immeasurable and they shared countless precious moments together, like their recent trip to Alaska, a definite on his bucket list. A true sports enthusiast, John was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams, including the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams and engaging in spirited discussions with friends.
 
John had a magnetic personality and a gift for making people laugh. He had a knack for being the life of the party and brought joy to all those around him. He had a deep capacity for love and cared for everyone he encountered.
 
John F. Connell, Jr. will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and his great big bear hugs he loved to give. His memory will forever be in the hearts of his family and friends.
 
Rest in peace John. Your laughter and love will continue to shine through the lives of those you touched.

The visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 23, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Hallett Funeral Home , 273 Station Ave., S. Yarmouth, MA 02664. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Pius X Church on Friday May 24, 2024 at 11:00 am. Burial will be private.
 

I was so sorry to hear of John’s passing, and I am sorry I could not make any remembrances. I didn’t know John all that well, but you can tell he was much loved and respected. Kathy, it was so incredibly sad to hear about the passing of John. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Hopefully all the memories the two of you have shared over many years will help give you the strength to deal with this sad occasion. John was such a great guy and I know how much he loved you and his family. He was always so kind and thoughtful and so very funny. The 3 of us Just heard about John's passing. So sad to hear that. Spent a lot of great times with the Connell brothers in So. Weymouth growing up with them in the same neighborhood. Too many great times to list, but almost all of it was centered around sports. Whatever sports season it was in a given year, we all played it together, usually at Nash School's fields, basketball courts or in the gym. When the pond froze, we skated and played hockey. we even threw darts in the Connell residences' mudroom. and sometimes John and Mike would forgo the dart board and use Tom or Dave as THE dartboard. The brother's spats / wrestling matches were legendary. John was a very special person. A good heart, a loyal friend and an excellent athlete. I cannot express how sad this news is. I wasvalways close to the brothers and I will truly miss john. He was genuine inn all respects and I loved the guy. Love you brother ! we are gonna miss you dearly for right now. I’m sure there’s it quite the reunion in heaven with mom and dad and all my brothers and so many other loved ones , but I rejoice in our great salvation Through Jesus Christ. John You were the light of Aruba and all our adventures together… I loved you, you always made me laugh… And always have a smile on your face. Kathy and family I’m so sorry for your loss… But he will be remembered in our hearts forever.
