Elizabeth A. Mahannah, 44, of Yarmouth (formally of Brewster and Hyde Park), MA passed away on March 27, 2024, after a short battle with Leukemia. She was known to family as Beth and to friends as Liz. She was a beloved wife to Jeffrey Mahannah, a devoted mother to Katelyn Mahannah, and a cherished daughter of Cynthia (Green) Stracuzzi. She is survived by her brothers, Douglas Stracuzzi and Alexander Bonfilio, her sister Rachel Bonfilio, uncle Edward Green, and loving nieces Savannah Bonfilio and Gabriella Decoste. Elizabeth leaves her dear friends Mary and Mike, as well as her loyal dogs Lulu (13 years) and Autumn (Audie). Elizabeth is also survived by her father Joseph Stracuzzi.

Elizabeth's educational journey included attending the Henry Grew School and Franklin D. Roosevelt School of Hyde Park for primary education, Nauset Regional Middle School, and the Cape Cod Tech in Harwich for high school. Despite all her medical complications from diabetes, she persevered and obtained her GED and CNA/CHHA certificate at Cape Cod Community College.

Elizabeth was a dedicated stay-at-home wife and mother. In 2017, Elizabeth underwent a life-changing Pancreas & Kidney transplant, which she considered a "2nd Chance of Life." Because she was passionate about raising awareness for diabetes and organ donation Elizabeth founded her own business “Liz’s 2nd Chance of Life, where she sold Diabetes and Organ awareness items.

Elizabeth authored three books focusing on diabetes and organ transplant, and notably, in September 2023, Elizabeth hosted a Gala to raise awareness for diabetes and organ donation, with proceeds benefiting Beth Israel Hospital in Boston.

Elizabeth was enthusiastic about her hobbies by engaging in community service through Citizens Police Academy classes, traveling with her family, enjoying camping adventures with her daughter and friends, and creating lasting memories with loved ones.

A dedicated sports fan, Elizabeth cheered for all Boston teams, especially the Red Sox!

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth on Thursday May 30 at 11 am. Attendees are encouraged to wear something Blue, M&M, or Winnie the Pooh-themed (her favorites).

To honor Elizabeth’s memory please consider becoming an organ donor and/or donating blood.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Boston (Transplant or Oncology / Hematology). Elizabeth will be deeply missed by all who know her, but her legacy of resilience, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Beth, you had such a zest for life, no matter what was thrown at you! You were always positive, always smiling, and always living life to the fullest! I know you’ll be missed by so many people, and I also know that you will be missed at all family functions, especially your infectious laugh. I know you’ll be watching and joining from above and from within our hearts. Until we meet again, and what a reunion that’ll be as we all join you in due time! Shhh…don’t tell or warn anyone up there about us

Dearest Beth, I know you can hear us and see us and are sending us love from above. Our collective grief is eclipsed by all the love you gave, always, to everyone with whom you came in contact. I had known you as a beautiful baby, joyful youth and fierce fighter who successfully overcame all obstacles and challenges thrown your way. You always smiled, laughed, and engaged others in your wonderful outlook on life. Our working together on the 2023 Gala to raise money for Organ and Transplant Awareness drew us closer, almost like a mother and daughter. What inspiration you have given to all of us, through your philanthropic gestures, and willingness to help others here on Earth, and now spiritually from above still guiding, leading and loving us. You will be in my heart and prayers daily and always, unti we meet again.

We would like to give our deepest sympathies for your loss. We got to know Liz through our son, Sean. She was a sweet, kind and loving person and a dotting mother and wife. She accomplished many important things during her brief time and she will be missed.

Rest in the sweetest eternal peace, Beth! It truly has been inspiring, the way you never allowed your circumstances to keep you down, or dictate your life. You were always trying new things and you ALWAYS succeeded in whatever you put your mind and energy in to. And I will always look up to you for that. And I know you’re at peace now and no longer suffering, and that brings me a sense of comfort. Sending continued love and prayers to you family. We will all miss you, so deeply.
