Anita Cowan Desovich of Yarmouth Port died peacefully Friday, April 19, 2024 at McCarthy Care Center.
Born in Danbury, CT, Anita was the daughter of the late John and Kate Cowan. She was raised in Danbury, CT and graduated from Danbury High School in 1963.
After Anita married Stephen Desovich they moved to Middlebury, CT where they raised their two children, Stephen Desovich and Marcy Basler. Anita loved all of her pet dogs and visiting various dog parks where she met many close friends. Anita loved her family and spent many happy times at their second home in Killington, VT. She loved to ski, kayak and going on hikes with her friends in the mountains of Vermont.
In 2011 she along with her husband Stephen Desovich (who passed away in 2021) and their son moved to Cape Cod to be closer to her daughter and family. She enjoyed the beach, sunsets, walking down to the boardwalk and watching her grandson, Nicholas grow up.
Anita is survived by her son Stephen Desovich, her daughter Marcy Basler and her husband Brian, and a grandson Nicholas all of Yarmouth Port. Her brother John Cowan and his wife Trish of CT. Several nieces and nephews, also her fiancé Walter Jacob whom she reconnected with in 2023 and her beloved dog Nyla. She will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Friday May 3, 2024 at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA. Celebration of life will immediately follow. Burial will be private the following day.

We are so sorry for the news. Anita attended the last high school reunion last year. We had a great “catch up” Our prayers are with the family.

I am so sorry to hear this. I have many great memories with Steve and Anita. We were with them in same neighborhood in Middlebury. We had the privilege of spending time at there ski house. She will be missed by myself and son Scott. Praying for all.
My condolences to all family and friends. When my family moved to middlebury we met Anita, Stephen along with Cloey. We all became great friends.
