The Family of Lydia Maico (Rinos) Zitola is sad to announce her passing on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the age of 78. Lydia lived on Cape Cod, in South Yarmouth, MA with her husband of 53 years, Richard W. Zitola. She had three children, Violet Rose Zitola, Eric G. Zitola and Leia B. Zitola.

Lydia was a hairdresser born in Abuyog, Leyte in the Philippines, fourth of 12 children of Petra Balano and Eulalio Rinos. She often said she “only had a third-grade education”, but she was capable of many things. Lydia worked multiple jobs on the Cape, including the Yankee Candle factory in Hyannis. Lydia learned to cook traditional Italian food from her father-in-law Joseph Zitola, learned to crochet by watching her neighbor, enjoyed dancing, arranging flowers, listening to Elvis and watching professional wrestling on television.

She is survived by a large family in the Philippines including three brothers, Viviano, Narciso and Antonio, as well as many other friends and relatives both in the Philippines and in Massachusetts.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7pm Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday April 26 at 11:am at the Saint Pius the Tenth Church, Station Ave. South Yarmouth. She will be interred at the Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth.

Your friendship was a gift that enriched our lives in countless ways. We'll forever treasure the moments we shared, the laughter we enjoyed, and the bond we formed. Though you're no longer with us, your spirit continues to inspire and uplift us every day. May you find eternal peace and serenity, knowing that you are dearly missed and forever loved.
