Leda L. Knight
Mar 17th, 2024
Leda Louise Knight of Yarmouthport, MA (formerly Holliston, MA), passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the age of 76.
Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, master bridge player, retail manager, chef, needle pointer, and teacher, Leda pursued life with love, vigor, and purpose. Born in Waterbury, CT to the parents of Lillian Lenkowski and John Steponaitis, Leda grew up in Cheshire, CT before heading to Marquette University where she studied liberal arts and education. In a serendipitous moment, a high school friend named Bill Knight also ventured to Marquette. The two fell in love and soon after graduation they married. They settled in Holliston, MA where they raised three beautiful children, Bill, Sarah, and Kendal, and called it home for 42 years before retiring to Yarmouthport, MA and Venice, FL.
Leda loved spending time with family, often preparing Sunday meals fit for an army. Her holiday dinners were legendary and her eggplant parmigiana would make any North End chef jealous. She was an avid bridge player, often throwing bridge night parties with her group of life-long friends. Leda’s favorite place was by the ocean, in the sun, listening to Van Morrison, surrounded by loved ones. She will be forever missed by her husband of 53 years William Knight, son Bill Knight, his wife Susan, and grandchildren Olivia and Zoe; daughters Sarah Knight and Kendal Knight; brother Michael Langer, and his wife Karen; sister Gail Langer; in-laws Pete and Leslie Miller, Mike and Liz Fagan, and Judith Knight; many nieces and nephews, and Duke the dog.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 9 am-10 am at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth, MA. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 am at St. Pius X Parish, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA. Interment will follow in Ancient Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.

My sincerest condolences to Bill and family.
Bill - I never had the pleasure of meeting your mom, Leda, but I have got to work with you for the better part of the last 7 years (can you believe it's been that long?). You're a good guy, and a great coworker, and I think that says a lot about how your mom raised you and your family. Which is to say, really well, because you seem to have turned out A-OK. My condolences to you and your family on your loss.
