Maureen Roy, 87 of West Yarmouth, MA passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024.   
Maureen was born on June 25, 1936, in Dorchester, MA and was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Hastings) Murphy.  Both emigrated to Boston from Tipperary and Westport, Ireland in the 1920’s.  Maureen trained as a hairdresser in Boston where she met her husband, Normand Roy.  She worked at IBM in Williston, VT for many years until her retirement.  The two were married on February 1, 1959, and Maureen is preceded in death by her husband who passed away in January 2005.  
 
Maureen leaves behind three sons:  Brian H. Roy, 64 of West Yarmouth, MA, Gary F. Roy, 60, and his wife Elaine of West Yarmouth, MA, and Keith Roy, 61, of Williston, VT.  She also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren: Kyle Roy, 25 and his wife Anna of Rochester, MN, Cortney Roy, 24, of Atlanta, GA, Savannah Roy, 16, of West Yarmouth, MA, and Lucas Roy, 9, of West Yarmouth, MA. 
 
Additionally, Maureen leaves behind three siblings: Joan Coyne of Marshfield, MA, Patricia Austin of Braintree, MA and Francis Murphy of Lincoln, NH in addition to many nieces and nephews. 
 
Maureen was an avid dancer and an accomplished tennis player, a sport she played for many years.  She adored her four grandchildren and was a devoted and generous grandmother. 
 
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Pius X Church,
Station Ave. South Yarmouth, MA.
