Janet Lee Taylor
Dec 31st, 2023
Janet Lee Taylor, a resident of Yarmouth Port, MA, peacefully passed away at the age of 66 on December 31, 2023. Born on May 24, 1957, in Brookline, MA, she was adopted as an infant by her late parents Nancy Palmer Taylor and Walter Lee Taylor of South Yarmouth, MA. Janet's journey with lung cancer came to an end, surrounded by love from close friends who cherished her deeply.
Growing up in the beautiful surroundings of Bass River and Captains Village, Janet was the daughter of the Jolly Captain Motor Lodge owners where her summers were spent swimming, boating, and cleaning hotel rooms. She attended Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School and graduated in 1975. After attending LaSalle Jr. College, she moved to Florida and then Colorado to explore what was “over the bridge”.
Her friends have many stories of adventures with Janet throughout the years from the Cape to Colorado and across the country. Janet was truly a free spirit and was not afraid to explore living in different states, yet she found her way home to the Cape.
Janet had a sparkle in her eyes that made everyone else smile with her. She was known for her unwavering love for her humble home. Her warmth and dedication to cherished friendships were evident in her consistent efforts to stay connected. While Janet often maintained a quiet demeanor, her laughter had a special way of brightening any room and many hearts. She found solace in a glass of Chardonnay, which offered respite from her family losses. She delighted in a good joke, and she especially loved good music.
Janet leaves behind a multitude of friends who will forever hold her laughter and devotion close to their hearts. Sadly, she is predeceased by her brothers, Jeffery Taylor and Gregory Taylor, and fiancé Eric Gustafson.
Visiting hours to pay respects will be held at Hallett Funeral Home, located at 273 Station Avenue in South Yarmouth, MA on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Friends are warmly invited to attend and share their condolences. In the spring, a Celebration of Life event is planned for mid-May. Janet will be buried at the Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, RI with her family.
In memory of Janet, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Bass River at www.friendsofbassriver.org or through mail to P.O. Box 303 in West Dennis, MA 02670.
While mourning this loss, Janet's friends expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming love and support received during this challenging time. Condolences can be mailed to 41 Frances Helen Road, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675, or shared online through Hallett Funeral Home.
Janet will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever live on in our hearts and memories.
