Margaret “Peggy” Thompson of Yarmouth and Wareham, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2023. Born in Quincy and raised in Braintree, the daughter of the late Robert J. Burgess, Sr. and Helen G. (Stenberg) Burgess.

Peggy was educated in Braintree schools and graduated from Braintree High School in 1971 after being voted most beautiful in her class. As a child, she enjoyed spending her summers with her family on Cape Cod. Her love for the Cape brought her to Yarmouth where she made it her home and raised her son Jeffrey. She enjoyed entertaining in her early years, gardening, the New England Patriots, and watching and betting on the Kentucky Derby every year. Peggy had a beautiful heart and spirit.

She leaves behind her loving son Jeffrey and his wife Amanda, two grandchildren Ella and Carter, and her siblings; Robert J. Burgess Jr., Diane (Burgess) Gillis and husband Eddie, and Cheryl Burgess. Peggy is also predeceased by the love of her life, Doug Selvin who passed in 2021.

A memorial service will held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 11:00am at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth. Interment will follow in Chandler Gray Cemetery.
